PAKRAT Books!

PAKRAT Books!

PAKRAT Parents and Kids Reading A Lot Together
Today your child will be going to the library to check out 2 books. Each child will be given a PAKRAT bag to keep their books in. The books need to be kept in the bag when the books are not being read. Please help your child remember to return their books each Thursday so they can check out new books. It is very important to read these books with your child every night. After your child is familiar with the words, you can encourage your child to read the books to you. Thanks for reading with your child and taking care of Madison’s books!

Fundraiser and Photos!

Please check your child’s backpack today for 2 important forms.
If you would like to purchase pictures for picture day, please select what package you want on the picture form, enclose your payment, and return to school by Wednesday, October 12.
You will also find a large envelope for your child to collect donations for our Walk-a-Thon. Please help your child collect donations for our school from family and friends. The envelopes need to be returned by October 19. We will be walking during our 20 minute gym time. Let us know if you have questions.

Syllables are fun!

Syllables are fun!

We are learning about syllables (word parts) at school! Some words have 1 syllable (dog, fish, and chair). Some words have 2 syllables (table, cookie, apple). Some words have 3 syllables (newspaper and pajamas). We teach children to clap while saying a word to find out how many syllables or word parts are in each word. Children love to clap how many syllables are in their names and objects around our classroom. Help your child to hear syllables by clapping names of people in your family. Example- Beth (1 clap=1 syllable) Car ter (2 claps=2 syllables).
